just as described. a couple really minor dings on two corners, but nothing you can see without picking it up and holding close to your face. magnets on both sides are strong, and seem to hold all my knives with no problem vertically. overall, very happy with this purchase and would recommend to anyone that wants something that looks nicer and is more sanitary than a traditional block.
